Maintenance & Functionality

This is our most basic and minimally invasive level of service, the objective being to return the window to proper working order. This service does not involve painting or other cosmetic work. The goal is a fully functional window that looks exactly as it did when we started, but now works as it should. All work for this option is on-site and the windows never leave your property.

  • Removal and replacement of parting bead, if necessary

  • Light scraping where buildup restricts movement

  • Replacement of failed sash cords or chains with new

  • Ensure proper meeting of sashes at the meeting rail

  • Ensure locks engage properly and window functions with ease

Window and Door Hardware

Window and door work often necessitates the restoration and/or replacement of the surviving or missing vintage hardware. We offer a variety of services from cleaning to full restoration of the existing hardware, and work with a number of vintage dealers around the country to identify and replace missing sash locks, hinges, door knobs, hooks, cabinet toggles and the like. We have specialized in refinishing and “aging” new hardware to match the old.

We can tune up your keyed mortise door locksets, replace them where necessary with new locks or restored originals, and correct the hang of your vintage door hinges to ensure smooth operation for many years to come.
